Lucas Oickle


Lucas Oickle is a Bachelor of Music student at Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, Canada (Class of 2013). Concentrating in composition under Dr. Derek Charke and studying saxophone performance under Dr. Stanley Fisher, he intends on subsequently pursuing a Masters of Music degree and a doctorate (likely in composition, while additionally continuing to study the saxophone). Concerning composition, specific topics of interest include Fluxus, world music, indeterminacy (and other forms of improvisation), microtonality and la musique concrete (and other EA/acousmatic music). In regards to saxophone, Lucas spends a great deal of time exploring new methods and extensions of the contemporary saxophone technique and incorporating the New Complexity into common saxophone performance (as well as writing new pieces for saxophone that incorporate those techniques).
